How Big is Your God?

My smallest box is heart-shaped.  She is wrapped up in the sweetest paper and has a pink ribbon on top.  She says "Hi" to anyone and everyone, remembers her manners well, and just loves life all the way around.  She's two years old, and I wish I could keep her that age forever.

The other day I heard her singing, something she LOVES to do.  She sings all kinds of sweet little songs, but one of the favorites for me to hear is when she sings "Jesus Loves Me."  The first time I heard her rendition, I thought I had heard her incorrectly.  Upon doing a little research  :), I found out I was hearing more than just words.  The following is her verse:

“Jesus wuvs me, dis I know, for the Baa-ble tells me so,
Yittle ones to Him beyong, dey are weak, but Daddy’s strong!”

Yes, I wrote the second to the last word correctly.  That is what she says.  In her eyes, Daddy is like God.  He's as big as God.

Now don't misunderstand me.  I don't mean to be inappropriate or irreverent here, but I hope you can understand the direction in which I'm headed.  I think children often view their parents, especially their daddies in this diefied manner.  It makes sense.  They don't know, nor can they comprehend at such a young age, the abstract, as I think we can easily place the Lord since He is a Spirit.

My older children still ask me how God can be everywhere, know everything, and be all-powerful.  Uh, um, let me get back to you when I can understand that myself.  :)  Seriously, it takes faith just to give that answer to them.

Daddies, do all you can to be what your little ones need you to be.  Be their strong tower, be their protector (esp. from the TV and internet), be their ever-present one (even if just in spirit), and be their loving corrector when it is necessary.

Mommies, look up to Daddy.  Make him "lord of the house" in the right way, as God intended.  Whenever you can, encourage your children to pray for their daddy, as daddy has such an important job.

Listen to the words your children use about you and your spouse.  I hope they are words that you would want to have repeated about you or the other parent.

Remember:  you are raising the parents of your grandchildren, the future members of your church, and the next leaders of your homeland.  God will hold you accountable for it.

Caring for the Boxes....Tip Top Shape

Over the last five-plus years, I have developed an amazingly zealous passion for natural health and wellness.  Making my focus how our bodies are designed by God, how they are provided for by God, and how to find and use the best remedies for when we do get sick, has consumed my time to a fault.  I love it when I can find articles to share about things I know are "tried and true," especially when those resources come from friends, ones who are much more learned in this area than I.

Below, I am attaching a link about elderberry.  I won't go into much detail here because it would defeat the purpose of reading the article itself.  I know elderberry works because we've used it for our family.  It works well for us when combined with echinacea for allergies and runny noses (even ones that are caused by teething).

The goal is to be helpful to you.  Each box has it's own unique needs, so if this is something that can be useful to you (and them), then I have accomplished my goal.  From there, I wish you well.  :)

Why I chose to display my boxes

As an educator and now a mother, my philosophy of education has pretty well stayed the same, but my methods and characteristics of how learning actually occurs has "evolved."  I have often thought that we see education as a neatly packaged item that we send to our children, have them open it up, and get out of it all the same things.  However, with the sheer number of children that are in the world today and over the course of the world's history, there is NO way they all learn the exact same way, even if the information being taught and the method of delivery is the same for each one.

That's why I'm starting this blog......

I want to help give perspective on this subject.  In other words, let turn it around a bit.  Instead of education being the box, why not see each of our children as a unique box, especially created by God with his own shape, size, color, etc.  The number of children we have in our own family will help give perspective on this, as this can largely help us to see differences that are important.  I hope to write about each of my children as we learn together, chronicaling the daily activites and the unique ways each of them views and complete tasks.

I hope you will be intrigued by the subject, and hopefully, I can provide helpful insight and information, as well as be an encouragement to you as you educate your children or help the classroom teacher who does.
